Apple Inc. is upto its own version of Google Glasses. Today the Cupertino based company has been awarded a patent of a wearable HUD that has the ability to display images, videos, apps and other content on the glasses using LCD projectors . With this Apple's also coming into the field of glasses after Google.
But Apple’s glasses
would not have the projector in front of the eyes, instead it will be
on the side of the eyeglasses.Apple’s patent describes a method in which
the image travels through a
special glass to land directly into the user’s pupils, thus creating a
total immersive experience.
The main flaw in getting screens and projectors on glasses is that screens are too close to the eye are unable to display the images at optimum resolution that may well cause pixelation. Apple aims to remove this flaw this by using a technique which Apple is calling pixel multiplication.
Apple has got two methods to use pixel multiplication. One of the method implies physical shifting of the pixel within a prescribed time so that user sees it as multiple pixels. This way the overall resolution can be enhanced without increasing the number of pixels or pixel density.
The second method involves an array optics. It includes a lens and mirror assembly that can be shifted in synchronization with physical pixel output to give the illusion of multiple pixels per physical pixel thus giving a very high resolution experience without increasing the pixel density. I
This version of Apple's glasses may well be, one day, unveiled as the ipad mini.
