London Olympics

The biggest sport event in the world is about to start in about a day at the Olympic Stadium London. With a capacity of about 80,000, the Olympic Stadium in London will feature 'Isles of Wonder', the opening ceremony for the London Olympics 2012.

Oscar winning director Danny Boyle has been made the Artistic Director of the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony By LOCOG (London Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games), the organizing group of the Olympics.  

The 1981 movie 'Chariots of Fire' has been set the the recurring theme in promotion
for the Olympics which depicts the story of two British athletes in the 1924 Olympics.

 



 

The 29th Olympics will feature over 14,000 athletes indulging in about 26 sports representing 205 countries. Over nine million tickets are expected to be sold and massive 4 Billion people are expected to watch the games all around the world.

The 29th Olympics will feature over 14,000 athletes indulging in about 26 sports representing 205 countries. Over nine million tickets are expected to be sold and massive 4 Billion people are expected to watch the games all around the world. Over 63,000 will be involved in staging the games.


The Official song of the games has been composed by English band Muse and will be played during the entering of the teams to the stadiums and before the medal ceremonies.The workforce for the organizing of Olympics has been around 200,000 people. These are made up of 6,000 paid staff 70,000 volunteers and around 70,000 contractor rollers.


London Olympics will broadcast around the world, with Olympic Broadcasting Services serving as the host broadcaster. BBC will broadcast all 5000 hours of competition videos through various channels. The rights for Us have been bought by NBC wile in Australia Olympics will be broadcasted by Nine Network and Foxtel. Cable Television Networks, ESPN and Eurosport will broadcast over Asia South America and Europe. Besides them there will be a lot of websites and youtube channels covering the journey of the Sports events.

Olympic Park,London





The arenas for various sports are located in different venues - Olympic Park(which also contains Olympic Stadium- the venue of Opening and Closing Ceremonies),Out -of -London venues for off-stadium sports and rest will be road events.
The Olympics will end on the 12th of August as the flame on the torch will be extinguished.
